Duolingo for bible: does it exist?

Who already tried this

What's the crossover

A streak-based daily Bible habit. Manna already does this, so the open angle is a single translation, a church-class cohort, or a language Manna does not serve.

Demand check

Publish a signup page for the narrow angle, such as a daily path for a single translation or a single book, and share it in the groups you can reach. Count signups against visits. If almost nobody signs up, Manna already covers the need.

Build plan

• Start: pick a licensed Bible text and a starter book. Write short missions that quote that text and ask a simple recall question.
• Next: ship a web app with a daily mission, a streak counter, and a progress path.
• Then: add a reminder email and a simple paid plan behind a free opening unit.
• After that: invite the signup list and watch where people stop reading.

Copy the build prompt

Build a small web app for a daily Bible habit. Each mission shows a short licensed Scripture passage, then asks the learner to pick what the passage says. Track a daily streak, show progress per unit, and send a reminder email when the learner has not practiced today. Keep the opening unit free and put later units behind a paid plan. Store users, passages, streaks and plan status in a database. Use plain, accessible HTML.

Risks and unknowns

• Manna already sells a gamified daily Bible path, so a general Bible habit app starts behind 3.
• Scripture text is copyrighted. A course that quotes a translation needs a license for that text 3.
